About Phuket
Phuket is located in the Andaman Sea in southern Thailand. It is the biggest island in Thailand and one of the most popular tourist areas of the country. On Phuket, Patong Beach is the most famous of all beaches, where most of Phuket's nightlife and its shopping markets are located. Other popular beaches are located south of Patong, including Karon Beach, Kata Beach, Kata Noi Beach. To the north of Patong are Kamala Beach, Surin Beach and Bang Tao Beach. There are several coral islands around Phuket, some of them are well worth visiting on a day trip. The Similan Islands lie to the north west, and Phi Phi Islands to the south east, both catering especially to snorkellers and scuba divers.

Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) - the ancient combat technique was formerly used on Thai battlefields. This challenging sport can be trained at a couple of gyms under the guidance of former Thai kickboxing champions. At Bangla Boxing Stadium in Patong visitors can watch show fights as well as professional fights on several days each week.
National Park & Viewpoints - Two major falls are located in Khao Praew Thaew National Park, 22 km north of Phuket Town. The jungle is the last primary rainforest in Phuket and great for trekking or hiking. A Gibbon Rehabilitation Project has been set up here to protect these endangered animals. At Laem Promthep visitors have a fabulous view over the ocean stretching as far as Phi Phi Island on a good day. Another viewpoint is called 'Three Beaches' hilltop venue and located on the road between Nai Harn and Kata.
Nightlife - Legendary Patong Beach is the island's number one nightlife zone. On offer is a bewildering mix of seafood restaurants, Go-Go bars, pubs, discos, live music clubs, transvestite cabarets and a lot more.
Phi Phi Islands – became famous through the Hollywood movie “The Beach” starring the actor Leonardo DiCaprio. The islands offers a stunning scenery, when approached by boat they looks like a fortress rising from the sea. The sandy beaches and coral reefs are also worth exploring. Phuket Town - In the old part of Phuket Town, a unique blend of colonial and Chinese architecture can be found in the local shop houses and buildings. Many small shops and inviting restaurants create a fascinating atmosphere and make the provincial capital of Phuket well worth visiting.
Phuket Zoo & Aquarium - Phuket Zoo at Chalong houses a wide variety of animals, such as lizards, tropical birds, butterflies or camels. It has daily animal shows, featuring crocodiles, monkeys and elephants. Located at Cape Panwa, Phuket Aquarium can be found. It’s major attraction is a new glass tunnel, from where visitors have unique views at the aquatic life.
Scuba Diving - World class diving locations can be found around Phuket. The most promising destinations including the Similan Islands, Burma Banks, Racha, Koh Phi Phi, Hin Daeng and much more. There are several dive operators located at all major beaches in Phuket.
Shopping – The island has a great variety of shopping, from open-air food markets and night & weekend bazaars to modern department stores and up market specialist shops. Traditional handicrafts, clothing, jewellery and branded articles can be found often at bargain rates. Bargaining is essential at most street stalls, the high end department stores have fixed prices but offer special promotions and discounts throughout the year.

Wat Chalong & Big Buddha - One of Phuket's most important and most visited temple by Thais and foreigners alike is Wat Chalong. It is located at Chalong and beautifully decorated. It covers a large area and contains several pagodas. Big Buddha is located at the top of the Nakkerd Hill, near Kata Beach and looks down over Chalong, Kata and Rawai. It is 45 metres high and has been just recently completed.
